Whimbrel
"Numenius phaeopus"


The Whimbrel is a large wader with long legs and a long bill that curves neat the tip. In the uk this bird only breeds in Scotland. It can be seen in other areas on its way to and from Africa.
They eat insects, snails, slugs, crabs, molluscs, worms, and shrimps.
It is between 40 and 46cm in length
It has a wingspan of 71 to 81cm
It weighs in at between 270 and 450g.
