Striated Caracara

"Phalcoboenus Australis"

The Striated Caracara is found in Argentina and Chile.

It is known as Johnny Rook in The Falkland Islands. It is 115 to 125cm in height and weighs in at 1.2kg. Male and female plumage is similar. They breed between October and January and lay between 2 and 4 eggs. They eat carrion and marine mammals, eggs, and they have been known to take a lamb.
