Steller's Sea Eagle
"Haliaeetus pelagicus"

The Stellers Sea Eagle is a very large bird of prey. It is dark brown with white wings and tail. It is the heaviest eagle in the world weighing in at a colossal 5 to 10 kg.
It lives in Japan and China as well as Russia and Taiwan. It eats mainly sea birds and fish. The Kamchatka peninsular in Russia is home to around 4000 of these eagles.
They have an enormous wingspan of between 6ft and 8ft. Unlike juvenile white tailed sea eagles who don't have yellow beaks until they are older the Steller's Sea Eagle juveniles have yellow beaks the same as the adults. Their powerful feet and talons once pierced the arm of a vet and the talon went in one side and out the other.
They feed mainly on fish and prefer salmon or trout
