Fulmar
"Fulmarus glacialis"


The fulmar is related to the Albatros this grey and white seabird glides and banks as it flies over the sea.
They have pointed straight stiff wings
They spit out a foul smelling oil to ward off intruders.
They eat crustaceans and sand eels.
They measure 45 to 50cm in length.
They have a wingspan of 1 to 1.10m.
They weigh in at between 610 to 1000g.
There are approximately 500,000 breeding pairs in the uk. They are amber listed and on the red list for birds.
You can see them all year round.
