Canada Goose
"Branta canadensis"


The Canada Goose is a large wild goose with a black head and neck and a brown body. It has white cheeks. It is between 75 to 110cm. It has a wingspan of 125 to 184cm. It weighs in at between 2.5 to 6.5 kg.
You often see them overhead flying in a "V" formation. They are herbivores and their diet includes grains and vegetation.
They pair up and are monogamous. However if one mate dies they will find a new mate. They lay between 2 and 9 eggs and while both parents protect the nest it is the female that spends more time at the nest than the male
