This member of the Auk family with its striking black and white plumage and red feet are found on lochs in Scotland and up on Shetland Orkney and Ireland. They eat crustaceans.

They are 30 to 32cm in length.

They have a wingspan of between 52 to 58cm.

They weigh in at between 300 and 460g.
